MPAA President and CEO Dan Glickman in a press release this weekend:
'There is no better example of how theft dims the magic of the movies for
everyone than this report today regarding BitTorrent providing users with
illegal copies of Revenge of the Sith. The unfortunate fact is this type of
theft happens on a regular basis on peer to peer networks all over the
world.'" (http://www.mpaa.org/MPAAPress/2005/2005_05_19.doc)

Bittorrent alone? What about FTP? SCP? SFTP? Sneaker-Net? This guy -- and
his organization -- continue to demonstrate their blatant ignorance about
technology....or people, for that matter.

Of course, undermining his entire claim about P2P being bad for the movie
industry and "dimming the magic" is that Revenge of The Sith scored $50
million on opening DAY alone -- a new Hollywood record.

Reportedly, "Sith" cost $130M to make. Clearly, a film grossing only $50M in
a single day demonstrates how P2P is keeping people away from blockbuster
movies THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR AND WANT TO SEE IN A THEATER.
/sarcasm

Frankly, I'm happy that Lucas is doing so well from this movie, since it's
by far the best of the three prequels. I'll catch it again, for sure.
