iMS version 1.2.1 (a small interim release) is now available for download.
The changes from version 1.2 are as follows:

SMTP Server
-------------------

1 - Efficiency

Much improved efficiency for incoming mail and commands. You
will find that the overall operation of the server is much faster than any
previous version. This version should also provide better
compatibility with the ColdFusion 4.5 mailer (which does not seem to follow
RFC).

The ColdFusion mailer does not seem to wait for a mail received response
from the server before issuing a RSET command.

2 - Writing to log file

You can write to the log file from any template with the "INLOG" tag. For
example:

<inlog text="this is a test!">

3 - Cycling the log file

You can cycle the log file by creating a file in the log directory called
CYCLESMTP. The log will be cycled on the next write.

4 - Setting of the Recieved header

The SMTP server will write a standard "Received:" header when mail is
received. This header looks something like:

Received: from xxx.domain.com [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]
by rabbitt.hoot.com (inFusion Mail Server v1.2.1 beta 2
[inFusionEngine 1.1.2]) with ESMTP id 0EFADD255024D411B97C0090273C752E
          for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Sun, 7 May 2000 19:06:25 -0400

You can specify the Received header with the INSETRECEIVEDBY tag. For
example:

<inSetreceivedBy text="test header">

If you set the text to a blank string then the Received header will be
omitted.

POP3 Server
-------------------

1 - Efficiency

Much improved efficiency for mail and commands. You
will find that the overall operation of the server is much faster than any
previous version.

2 - Writing to log file

You can write to the log file from any template with the "INLOG" tag. For
example:

<inlog text="this is a test!">

3 - Cycling the log file

You can cycle the log file by creating a file in the log directory called
CYCLEPOP. The log will be cycled on the next write.

POST Server
-------------------

1 - Cycling the log file

You can cycle the log file by creating a file in the log directory called
CYCLEPOP. The log will be cycled on the next write.

2 - Bug fix

POST server version 1.2 will not disconnect properly from a remote mail
server when the HELO or MAIL FROM clauses are rejected. This problem may
also be in some earlier versions as well.

You can download the new version from:

ftp://ftp.hoot.com/pub/ods/ims/iMS121.exe

There will also be a new version of iMS in the near future that will add
some additional features...

Please let me know if there are any problems or questions with this new
version. The above features are not yet documented so keep this mail for
reference.

Thanks,

Howie Hamlin
