If you are using cfx_imsmail to send the mail then you should turn off the
automatic word wrap.  To do this add the following to the tag:

wordwrap=0

For AOL, not sure exactly what the situation is but the cfx_imsmail tag
supports sending plain text and html at the same time.  To do this:

<cfx_imsmail ...
body="plain text goes here"
heml="html text goes here"
