Hi everyone,

My company has just purchased IMS. I am currently working on a system that
will allow users to send mass e-mails (anywhere from 1-20,000 at one time)
based on data found in our company's database. (NOTE:Just so no one thinks
too poorly of me, this isn't spam. The e-mail addresses are of people who
expect this type of e-mail) I would like people's opinions on the send
method I am using.

The method I am working on for sending the e-mails is to have the message,
attachment and recipient data saved to files and then write a record in SQL
Server that contains the other necessary information for sending a message.
Then, using CFMAIL, I send a message to the IMS server with the SQL Server
record ID in the subject. The data.cfm template pulls all the data and then
prepares the e-mails to be sent. I created this method because I was looking
for a way to process e-mails without the user having to wait for the
messages to be built.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a better way to process e-mail? Does
anyone have any criticisms about the method above? Please let me know. My
two main concerns are that the user doesn't have to wait too long while
his/her e-mail is being processed and that the e-mail gets delivered as soon
as possible.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
