Well, so far iMS can do all of this. This list (which actually took only
about 5 minutes to write BTW) has most of these features. I can send you
the code if you want.

There would only be a conflict if the other mail server took control of all
IP addresses on the machine. iMS has the ability to bind to one particular
IP address and could coexist on the same box if the other server could do
the same. Otherwise, you would need to set it up on a separate box.

Absolutely. This list won't allow non-members to post to it either. And,
if the sign-up for the list weren't public then the list would basically be
private.

You can download FusionMail but that is really configured for use with the
full iMS server. For a list server using POST-SE you would need to just
code up some pages to handle the list adds and deletions but you would need
to use an external mail server to receive the mail sent to the lists and
pull the mail with CFPOP. The full iMS server includes an SMTP server that
makes lists much more integrated and simple.
