I use this code in my DATA.CFM template when an incoming message is processed:

<CFQUERY name="MaxMSGSize" datasource="iMS">
   SELECT domains.MaxMessageSize FROM domains INNER JOIN domainaliases on domains.domainid=domainaliases.domainid
      WHERE domainaliases.domain='#todomain#' and domains.domaintype=1
</CFQUERY>

<CFIF MaxMSGSize.MaxMessageSize gt 0>
   <CFIF FORM.messagesize gt (MaxMSGSize.MaxMessageSize*1024)>
      result=oversize
      <cfabort>
   </CFIF>
</CFIF>

This forces iMS to look up in the database the maximum size allowed for a particular domain.  However, this brings up a confusing issue.  There is a setting in the Infusion Mail Server Configuration that has a Maximum Message size (set at 300k currently).  I assume that this setting is for the message itself and the code in the DATA.CFM template is for attachments.  Is this correct?

When I send a message with Outlook 2000, I have no problems sending attachements to the Infusion mail server.  Other people run into the problem with sending a message that contains an attachment over 300k.

Subject: Re: [iMS] Attachements Being Rejected

Hi
I don't thing upgrading will affect anything at all.. you will only have more functions or variables available. how do you calculate the message size on you code?

There are emails that are being sent to the iMS server that contain attachments.  Sometimes, the messages (with a megabyte or so attachment) are being rejected because the message size is too large (not the attachment).  The maximum message size is set at 300k, but the maximum attachment size is set at 5MB.  Apparently, the mail server is interpreting the attachment as being part of the actual message, and not a separate attachment.

What causes this?  If an upgrade is need to solve this issue, what other areas will be affected?  I'm leary of upgrading simply because we have so many web-based sites using this email system.

Thanks,
Adam
