Title: RE: [iMS] PostFail, Post / Smtp questions

Thanks Howie,

I'll look more into item 1).

For item 2), that's my bad, I was confusing SMTP and POST.  Yes, you are right, our SMTP is displaying the SMTP preamble.  Is there a way for post to use a customized (like the SMTP preamble) server name during the EHLO/HELO process?  I may be way off as to my understanding as to how this would work.  Currently, it's using my server name during the EHLO/HELO, which with some mail servers are rejecting mail, because the name is not a fully qualified hostname, e.g., servername.domain.com

Here is an error I'm getting:

<-504 <rbemail>: Helo command rejected: need fully-qualified hostname

Thanks for your help! Have a great weekend.

David.

Subject: [iMS] PostFail, Post / Smtp questions

Howie,
Got a couple questions,
1) Sometimes PostFail does not return any Transmission, Transaction,
or MailServerResponse values.  We receive all the header info and SMTP info.
Any ideas?  Also, I checked POST logs with the SmtpTo email address returned to PostFail,
sometimes there is not record of an attempt made to delivery to that address.
Is the address valid?  Could it be that the MX lookup failed?
2) iMS is not using the SMTP PreAmble we specify in the Common tab when connecting
to other SMTP servers.  I have the option checked in the SMTP tab to use Server Name in SMTP Preamble, restarted iMS numerous times.  It seems to always default to the computer name of the server, instead of the SMTP Preamble. Even double checked the value in registry, it is set at 1.

This feature definitely works for the iMS SMTP Server.
Regards,
Howie
Using all the latest iMS versions, with latest CFX tags as well.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
