My assumption (which of course can be bad) is that your Windows app (presumably Outlook) is probably using non-standard characters (as it often does) that the Mac email reader does not display the same as your Windows app. Particularly if this is some sort of symbol (what character is supposed to be in the place of "�" -- it looks like it may be an em-dash)
