continuing to work this out...

my data template conains only:
<cflog file="iMS_SMTP" text="#SMTPFrom#">

When testing with the console, I do get an entry in the "iMS_SMTP" log file
with the correct SMTP address noted. However, getting an error message in
the data step of the console. SMTP log reads:

Is this something to be concerned with, and would this possibly be the
reason why iMS (outside of the console) is not receiving any bounces??

If you are using the bounce server then the address must begin with
"Bounce-" (the hyphen matters).

Also, there needs to be a valid MX that points to the server - for example,
if you have a domain called domain.com and
you have an MX pointing to a mail server (mail.domain.com) you can also set
up an MX for bounce.domain.com and have the
bounces addressed to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

One other thing - you should try using the SMTP test console or telnet to
port 25 of the bounce server and make sure
that it accepts mail to a bounce address.

HTH,

Howie
