continuing to work this out... my data template conains only: <cflog file="iMS_SMTP" text="#SMTPFrom#">
When testing with the console, I do get an entry in the "iMS_SMTP" log file with the correct SMTP address noted. However, getting an error message in the data step of the console. SMTP log reads: 01/13/2003 03:39:30 PM [023] 403251A7.ptr.dia.nextlink.net [64.50.81.167] Connected (1 total) 01/13/2003 03:39:32 PM [023] WARNING: Application server response: 01/13/2003 03:39:32 PM [023] WARNING: Template=C:\iMS\Domains\DATA.cfm 01/13/2003 03:39:32 PM [023] WARNING: Content-type: text/html 01/13/2003 03:39:32 PM [023] WARNING: Page-Completion-Status: Normal 01/13/2003 03:39:32 PM [023] Invalid result from template 01/13/2003 03:39:32 PM [023] Moving mail file to orphans directory (8B42672C37F8E54B80E2499B737884F3.mail) 01/13/2003 03:39:32 PM [023] CF No Response 403251A7.ptr.dia.nextlink.net [64.50.81.167] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 629 01/13/2003 03:39:32 PM [023] MAIL 403251A7.ptr.dia.nextlink.net [64.50.81.167] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 629 Is this something to be concerned with, and would this possibly be the reason why iMS (outside of the console) is not receiving any bounces?? -----Original Message----- From: Howie Hamlin [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, January 06, 2003 7:14 PM To: inFusion Support List Subject: Re: [iMS] Bounce Back Detection If you are using the bounce server then the address must begin with "Bounce-" (the hyphen matters). Also, there needs to be a valid MX that points to the server - for example, if you have a domain called domain.com and you have an MX pointing to a mail server (mail.domain.com) you can also set up an MX for bounce.domain.com and have the bounces addressed to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" One other thing - you should try using the SMTP test console or telnet to port 25 of the bounce server and make sure that it accepts mail to a bounce address.
