We have found the problem, and I wanted to let you know what was causing
this.
We had reverse DNS lookup turned on and it was slowing down the logon
process to the point, at times, of timing out.
Is this a known issue and if so is there a resolution in the near future?

Why would the problem be intermittent ?

The connections appear to be failing because of the autorization rejection.
Your template should be providing iMS with
the proper password for the user logging in and the user login must be
valid. If not, then the authentication will
fail.

Maybe something is wrong in your authentication template or the client
configuration. However, from the transaction
below, I don't see an issue with the mail server.

Regards,

Howie
