This is how we use the tag. And also, since we use IMS for all of our mail (not just large blasts) we have a custom tag called <cf_imsWrapper> which basically tries to use the cfx_ims tag within a try/catch block and if it fails it calls another custom tag <cf_imsBackup> which used cfmail to send the same mail. It also sends multi-part mail and mimics some of the cfx_ims functionality to a limited degree.

We find this useful for times when you need to reboot the ims server, the network path is down or whatever. Know what I mean?

Yes, you can do this as long as the CF service is configured to log on as a user with rights to the spool folder of the iMS server. You will need to use the SPOOLDIR parameter of the CFX also (it is recommended that you use UNC paths). For example:

<cfx_imsmal spooldir="\\iMSServer\ShareName\iMS\Out\" ...>

Is it possible to run cfx_imsmail on a seperate cf box?

We're runnign two cf5 servers and now 1 iMS mail server, I don't seem to
be able to get cfx_imsmail working on the two cf boxes. The quick start
guide seems to suggest it's possible, but I see nothing in any of the
other docs.

Do you have to write directly to the iMS spool dir and so require
mappings etc? Or does ther cfx tag talk directly to iMS?
