1. Winows services that listen for incoming client
connections (SMTP, POP, Web, etc) bind to a particular port (basically, they
take control of the port). An SMTP Server will bind to port 25 and listen
for incoming connections. Most TCP/IP servers bind to a port on all IP
addresses in the system. By default, iMS does this as well. However,
you can configure iMS services to bind to a port on a single IP address thus
leaving the other IPs on the system available for another service to bind
to. If IMAIL has the same ability then you can effectively run both at the
same time (but on different IPs).
2. Yes, iMS looks like a standard SMTP
and POP server.
3. Yes, you can do this. iMS/FusionMail
supports multiple domains on a single IP address.
