[iMS] How to determine bottlenecks

Our IMS Server with 255 threads is delivering 50,000 messages in 2.5 Hours. I need to get it to send faster. I am also a bit unsure as to how to determin where the bottlenecks are.

The server is a PIII Dual 800 with 1 gig of Ram and IDE 7200 RPM / RAID.

CFMX on the same box handles permanent failures, tracks open rates, un subscribes and link redirects. CFMX seems to be using less than 15% of the processor for the most part and Infusion Post is using the rest.

From the stats is there a way to tell where the bottleneck is? If I upgraded to the enterprise version (1024 threads) would that help? If my processing power is the bottleneck, it would probably not help. If my I/O system is the bottleneck a faster processor would not help much.  How can I determine what needs to be tweaked for optimal performance?

Looks like debug info was left in the released code.  Also, threads should not ever be held open longer than the smtp timeout setting in the server.  Do you have evidence in your logs that shows otherwise?  If so you can send it to me off list.
 
As a remedy for the debug output I would suggest upgrading to v2.5.

We are looking through our post logs and see a ton of DEBUG: ->QUIT statements. I see this on several threads that have been held open for almost 24 hours.

 

Any ideas as to what could cause this?
