Howie: The 10053 error occurs in two ways. It occurs and the delivery fails. The server puts the mail back into the queue. The next time the server attempts to deliver mail, the mail may be delivered successfully or it may fail again. Once it fails multiple times, it usually always fails. Sometimes restarting the service helps. Sometimes it does not. we are currently designating only one ip address as the destination(the SMTP service that actually delivers the mail to a remote server) Would multiple ip addresses help, giving the POST server more than one option if one or more fail?
Another problem: We have noticed the service shutting down unexpectedly at seemingly random times. Nothing appears in the logs that can lead us to the source. I would include listings of the termination msg, but have none that gives any information. Any ideas?
