Hi,
We have a website, say xxx.com. Vistors to our site get a web mail address
([EMAIL PROTECTED]).
Staff at our company also get eamil addresses; [EMAIL PROTECTED] for example.
I want to install a local mail server on our network for staff.
So I am going to forward any staff accounts to our local network mail server
(lets call it xxx.net).
So an account [EMAIL PROTECTED] forwards to [EMAIL PROTECTED] if the account is a staff
account, otherwise it remains on xxx.com.
Where this arrangement gets tricky is that I want to ensure that staff still
get mail if our web-based mail server goes down. Ensure for example that a
staff account can be notified that our public mail server is down. So I'm
trying to avoid a catch-22 type situation.
My first stab a Solution is to use a backup mx server and do the following.
[third party backup mx for xxx.com ] forwards mail to xxx.net
[our mail server xxx.com]
[mails sent to staff accounts forward to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[office mail server say xxx.net ]
[all non staff (web site users) mail queued for xxx.com ]
[all staff mail remains on xxx.net ]
[all staff mail sent from xxx.com ]
Am I making life difficult for myself???
Any better solution?
Thanks wg
