Due to being laid off on Friday, I'll actually have some time to get the
anti-spam stuff I promised together. It will be done in 4 steps
1. helo
If the connecting IP is banned, the mail is bounced
If the connecting domain is banned, the mail is bounced
If the connecting mail server announces itself as a specific name, it is
bounced (ommo.net is a perfect example)
If the connecting mail server announces itself as an IP and it is NOT the
same as the true connecting IP, the mail is bounced
2. Mail -
If the senders email address is banned, the mail is bounced
If the senders domain is banned, the mail is bounced
If the senders email address is not properly formatted, the mail is bounced
3. RCPT
If the receive address is not properly formatted, the mail is bounced
If the receive address is not a valid user account, the mail is bounced
4. Data
If there are attachments of type pif, exe, com, dll, scr, and others known
to only be used by spammers, the mail is bounced
If there is no Date, To, From or Subject, the mail is bounced (those who
expect messages with blank subjects can turn the subject portion off, but the
senders should be informed that they are not acting properly.)
There are other data tests, but those are the basics. In addition, I've been
contracted to write a mailing list plugin to iMS to replace post.office. And
Passover is next week. Fun. :)
