inFusion Mail Server version 2.6b is now released. This new version includes some
great new features and functionality.

The most exciting new feature of iMS is a brand new memory manager that greatly speeds
up iMS servers. When I sent a prerelease to a client (without mention of the new
technology) they sent me the following:

"I intended to email you tomorrow after we had sent several hundred thousand
emails, but I noticed something that makes me a little nervous. It appears
the rate at which we are sending has more than doubled! Is there a reason
why this release would be so much faster than prerelease 14 that you posted
to the list? My rough math shows that my system could be sending at the rate
of 108K/hour if I kept the queue full!"

Well, I then briefed him on the new technology and that put him at ease.

Another unsolicited comment:

"the damn thing is just running solid as hell."

At any rate - if you install the 2.6b upgrade you should see similar results all
around (the technology was applied to all services except the scheduler).

Another exciting new feature of 2.6b is the integration with the upcoming iSE
(inFusion SpamElimination Engine). iSE (based on the popular SpamAssassin technology)
will allow iMS users to have a fine grain control over SPAM. Each email will be
scored according to specific criteria - you will then have options to delete the mail
or mark it as SPAM for end-user filtering.

iSE is not currently available but should be available as a beta within a few weeks.

This release of iMS also introduces a new version of PrismAV (our integrated virus
scanning solution). This version is not only faster but optionally includes an
updated, patent-pending Sandbox technology (http://www.norman.com/Virus/13927/en-us)
that detects even unknown viruses.

Besides the new goodies we've also introduced some small new features that are
outlined in the documentation including optional tracking headers and automated
actions for viruses and restricted file attachments. We've also fixed things with
ReportPostStatus and PostFail/PostWarn and also corrected some memory usage issues.

I know it's been a while since we've released an official upgrade to iMS (previous
releases were not official and were designated as prereleases) but I think it was all
worth it as this is the best and the fastest iMS ever.

You can download iMS 2.6b as either an updater package or a full installer. The
update package is around 5.5 MB and the full installer is around 11.5 MB.
