Entries in bad_* files need a Regular Expression and an expiry date.
The correct format would be:-
/tsbrueni\@gmail\.com/ 20231231
Every hour the bad_* files are reloaded if they've been modified. You
can see the success (or failure) of these reloads in pyclean.log.

I think The Doctor was speaking of Cleanfeed, and not PyClean.
Seems like the syntax is right for Cleanfeed, and the issue is solved
according to a thread he also started in news.software.nntp.
