busting to see what people say
opens a whole bagful of questions
what if you agree with all but one or a couple of points in a president's letter?
or how much of a letter does a minister or secretary or treasurer have to agree to before they pass it on?
or should they, because they are officers in the uniting church, be obligated to pass everything official on?
and more
is part of our problem here (the ignorance of a lot of people about the policies and ethos of the uniting church) due to ministers/secretaries of congregations deciding that certain mailings are not important or relevant to or suitable for their congregations?
i suspect that a lot of people who say they didn't know that such and such was coming to the assembly or that such and such was a policy of the church were people who didn't heretofore give a toss about what the president said or what the assembly was or what the doctrine of the church was; or they were members of congregations who were denied by one gatekeeper or another access to official newsletters and mailings, where the monthly synod journal was either refused altogether or shut away in a cupboard in the back of the church because mayhaps six years ago it had the temerity to report and reflect what the policy of the church actually was ...
after all that Andrew i would suggest that is not your responsibility to censor the official spokespeople of the church
obviously there are ministers in this church that teach against the church's doctrine -- and even if they don't feel they should be taking a long hard look at themselves they should at least consider putting out the official position of the church before they preach against it

If the Moderator or President sends a letter with which I have deep theological disagreement for my congregation, should I refuse / neglect to distribute it?
