Peter, you said that "It's performance, now"

A rave is a participatory thing, its an all night dance party this sint a performance
as such, its more a space to feel and
experience and meet people.

I dont believe that its all performance, a cd isnt a performance, niether is a
videoclip, definately when it touches me to the point
where i am involved.

Infact, i think the idea that it is all performance leads us back to the difficulty i
have of churches trying to become more
interesting or entertaining when i think they need to become authentic rather than
attractive.

Chuck a huge band to lead the songs in a church service and quite often you've lost me
already.

Worship and music is much more than a performance, perhaps the generations experience
things differently.

Way back when, the people used to gather round a fire and tell stories, we dont do
much of that anymore... perhaps that faded out
with generations.

Its not about performance, its about integrity, experience, touching points...

On other matters, its extremely hard for a kid to drive with his parent, music can
provide a bit of relaxation or distraction...
perhaps the tapping made him even more aware of your presence and made him nervy.
When i did my lessons the instructor wouldnt let
me have a radio on, its too distracting. Of course, nowdays i can have 3
conversations, listen to music and eat a m&m whilst
driving... it all comes with experience.

My point here is that its about situations too, theres a time and a space for
everything, (mind you if my dad starts singing in the
car im jumping out the window heh heh). If we provide a space where the music touches
then thats cool, music wont work everywhere
and we wont all sing.

we're not all australian idols :)

Cheers again

Darren
