And anyway, democracy in the church might be a dangerous thing. From what I have read, most of the German Church in the 1930s didn't think much of those stirrers in the Confessing Church. The majority of the German Church didn't see any problem in wearing nazi arm-bands to church, giving the nazi salute during worship and painting swastikas in the centre of crosses. The pro-nazi German Church had the numbers and the Confessing Church didn't - thus the German Church reflected the democratic will of reformed church goers in Germany in the 1930s and the Confessing Church didn't.
