Beyond Bali
Interfaith Perspectives Featuring Professor James Haire - Director, Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, Canberra, and Mehmet Ozalp - President, Affinity Intercultural Foundation.
The seminar will be held on March 13, 2004 at Centre for Ministry, North Parramatta. 2.30pm - 5.30 pm. $10 per person; $5 concession.
Organised by the Inter-Faith Group of the Blue Mountains Uniting Church Parish and Co-sponsored by The ELM Centre and the Wellspring Community.
Participants will be discussing "Beyond Bali - creating responsible attitudes towards terrorism today". Christian and Muslim responses will be presented and discussed. A panel of younger people involved in interfaith enterprises will also share.
The aim is to foster hope in regards to interfaith relations in contrast to what is often presented by the media. Organisers seek to motivate positive local responses by participants and create helpful attitudes towards people of other faiths in an often-oppressive context.
On Sunday March 14 at 9.30 am Professor Haire will be preaching at the Combined Parish service at Katoomba on the topic "What it means to be a Christian in the contemporary secular world".
