It's one of those times when i realise just how self centred society actually is, if you have issues with that comment please pay attention to who are being interviewed and asked for responses.
The most special part of budgets for me is how they are supposed to be about appropriately budgeting for our entire society, but they are always framed in terms of what individuals will get out of them. ;-]
The bit that puzzles me is *why* they're framed that way. I mean, normally, any sales pitch is framed in terms of what the recipient will get out of it. That's marketing. But that presumes the recipient actually has a choice to accept or reject the offer. Do we, with regard to the Budget? *Is* there some way we can formally reject the Budget and say we want it changed? Because if so, I don't know about it (though I realise that keeping people in the dark about their options is also a good marketing strategy).
All that said, if the govt poured money into public transport, health and public education, plus extra services for the disadvantaged, AND kept within their spending limits (as we ordinary individuals have to do), I'd be happy with that.
Is there anyone who wouldn't benefit at all if those categories were where the money was spent?
