I found it to be realistic rather than depressing. The reallity is that the Churches are in decline and that is more noticeable in rural communities where there is not the volume of young people to draw on. This is very noticeable in the Catholic/Anglican/UCA churches and although some Baptists are faring a little better, they too are seeing their members getting older and having trouble supporting ordained ministry. Pentecostal and Charismatic churches tend to rise and fall but are not having much success either overall.
