Knowing full-well the suffering that just one family is going through
on Temporary Protection Visas, I feel compelled to forward this to you
for your consideration:

Campaign for Permanent Protection
Amnesty International Australia has launched a *Campaign for Permanent
Protection*. Its aim is to replace Australia's TPV regime with
permanent protection by calling on the Australian Government to:

Grant permanent protection to all those refugees who have been issued
with a TPV; and
Repeal the legislation of October 1999 (which established Australias
TPV system).
The Campaign is supported by a range of organisations including A Just
Australia, ChilOut, the Christian World Service, the Refugee Council
of Australia, Rural Australians for Refugees and the National Council
of Churches in Australia. Hundreds of individuals have also put their
name to the Campaign.

Amnesty is inviting refugee organisations, local councils, employer
groups, health bodies, individuals and others to join them in calling
on the government to put an end to this policy.

You and your school or organisation can sign up to the Campaign at:
http://www.amnesty.org.au/whats_happening/refugees/issues_and_campaigns/campaign_for_permanent_protection

Amnesty would like to receive as many supporters as possible by 31
July 2004. You can also download a Campaign sign-up form to encourage
others to put their name to this important issue.
