What a doozey (spelling???).  What a shocker.

I lived in the US for three years and while the people were wonderful,
nationalistic pride brought out the corniest or the corniest in the US.

You'd struggle to find a church in the US where the US flag isn't more
prominent that 'the cross'.  And you get this genuine feeling that
Christianity for many is just another expression of their patriotism to
the US.

Of course their leaders trade on this claiming that if you think this is
all too corny or gushy, then you must be un-American.  Of course, with
the PM here saying that you have to fly a flag out front if you're
really serious about education, it looks like we're trying to play
catch-up.

Ah, the ramblings of a thirty-something.... ;-]
