Greg and all,

Somewhat off the Bible, but an 'insight', perhaps.

We have probably all heard that Muslims see Jews and Christians, as they say, as
people of the book, i.e. people who have a living link with the Scriptures, and
therefore in a different light from others who are not.

Im reviewing a book about the Quran for Insights (magazine) at present and what
comes through loud and clear is that Muslims believe that the Quran is a person and
has a life of its own. Its stated that the Quran intercedes (prays for?) the
faithful.

Reading it has revolutionised my understanding of the Muslim mode of speech (what we
hear Muslim believers say) and the degree of their faith.

There is also something I was reading last night that might help our understanding.
The revelation of the Quran was in three periods of times (and Im remembering rather
than looking this up):
(1) When written in Heavenly or celestial manner;
(2) When handed on to the lower heaven;
(3) When conveyed to the Prophet(s).
Note: Moses and Jesus had previously been given some of the Book so that they could
convey it in their way at various times (hence recognition of Jews and Christians.)
