Well done, John.
Allow me to share something of the psychology of such promotional
opportunities, gleaned when I ran a booth at a 'trade' conference some years
ago.
We were told that:
(1) if we WANTED people to take brochures then we should NOT have NEAT
piles of brochures; instead, flop them down so that they were a little
disordered. ["I can sneak a brochure away and no-one will notice; and,
particularly, I won't run the risk of somehow messing up that neat and
precisely ordered pile."]
(2) if we did NOT want people to take the brochures, such as if we had a
limited supply of brochures, then we should keep them in our hand and TALK
to people who found us, offering a brochure after 'interviewing' the person.
["Thanks, this is a reward me talking to you."]
Both can be used at the same time, too. The second approach also avoids you
sitting there all day.
Also, several years ago, I bought very cheaply at auction a professional,
collapsible display module system. It opens to ~3m x ~2m, looks like a
'spider web', and collapses to about 70cm x 20cm x 30cm. I had to get some
display panels cut at a local hardware shop out of thin MDF. Total cost
~$25. I can carry it all if I have to, and it goes up in about 5 minutes and
down in about 3min. Blue-Tac rules! It's amazing how useful it has been, for
everything from photo displays for birthday parties to 'trade' displays for
various community organisations.

Subject: Promoting the Uniting Church
Dear All
Over the last few years I have set up stalls at several
municipal
community festivals and a Church Fete with the aim of
promoting the
wider Uniting Church, including services provided by
UnitingCare.
[snip]
I put a proposal to the Maroondah Presbytery that we should
purchase
display items and equipment that can readily be used to
promote the
wider Uniting Church.
This was approved, where we are at is described at
http://www.maroondahpresbytery.unitingchurch.org.au/promotionalmaterial.html
