Title: RE A Computer Question
OK, so this is not particularly theological . . . but neither am I! :)

Andrew Prior wrote on 19/8/04:

FWIW,  if you are buying a dual layer DVD burner for more than $230.00,
or a CD burner for more than about $85 (from memory) you are being well
ripped off!

Being a Mac owner and user, I have not entered into this discussion. But Andrew's words struck a pang of remorse in my heart. I bought my first CD burner about five years ago and it cost me (from memory) around $1300 -- so much for your advice about no more than $85! It was a SCSI device and still works fine on my old Mac. My newer Mac, of course, runs on OS X and has a built in CD/DVD burner with the software being part of the operating system (even if I do sometimes use Toast).

How the price of hardware has come down!

Mind you, my first hard drive cost me $1900 about ten years ago and had the staggering capacity of 80MB. The most recent one I bought cost me about $125 and has a capacity of around 120GB.

Heavy sigh!
