The acts_as_tsearch description at Google Code
(http://code.google.com/p/acts-as-tsearch/) reads

"This very simple plugin is in it's [sic] early development stages[;]
however[,] we have it running on our production servers currently on
http://activerain.com/search.";

The phrase "early development stages" makes me think acts_as_tsearch
might not have all the features we need, and also that, like so many
plugins and gems, It Just Won't Work (TM). (Just as yesterday I
discovered that Thinking Sphinx, which apparently meets many people's
needs, doesn't meet ours, because it spits out an unhelpful error
message when trying to index the Person model.)

These issues may be surmountable, but they give me the aforementioned doubts.
