This was the problem. Sadly, the copy-over to hard disk is an utter pain
from Win 95 because it kept dying. I'd get a message like "can't find
trans.tbl" , which in most cases was just sitting there, and I could copy
it over manually. At one p[oint I had to reboot because the copy was going
so slow. I must have a virus or something. And, I ran into a file (EXIT_?)
in the /live branch that wouldn't copy over, since DOS/Win95 marks the '?'
as an illegal character for file names. Hope it wasn't too important!
But inspite of these leetle problems, the installtion went perfectly--it
really is really a piece of work.
