My platform:
Inspiron 3200
96meg RAM
13.3 screen
CD-ROM
3Com 56k Global modem
LinkSys Combo Ethernet with BNC/RJ-45 dongle.
Seeing how a few are telling good stories about getting linux on the i3.2k, let
me tell how SuSE installation went:
Smooth.
I installed SuSE 5.3, then after reading this list, found the neomagic and
pcmcia drivers from the redhat site, installed them.
X and network capabilities are working fine.
Things still left to configure/setup: the 3com 56k global modem card and sound.
I work at RealNetworks and was eager to get the Linux RealPlayer installed and
running. So the sound capability is my next work to configure on the laptop.
I also purchased the Applix office suite 99. So far works farily well. Still
not as fully featured as M$, but.. for the price and satisfaction of running
Linux this is OK for now.
Thanks to those who made posts or web pages that describe HOWTO's and other
notes recently. It helped, thankyou.
