infact redhat5.2 comes with all the binaries necessary.I rebuilt my
kernel (2.0.36) with the ppp feature enabled( as a module).The pcmcia
patch i am using is pcmcia-cs-3.0.6.Also there are
scripts to start and stop ppp connections.They were rather in a very vague
location.
/usr/doc/ppp-2.3.5/scripts
I modified the ppp-on script to include my name, passwd, isp phone number
etc.Then i copied the ppp-on-dialer script to
/etc/ppp.I also copied the ppp-on and ppp-off scripts to a well known bin
directory in my path.
I also enabled the ppp0 interface throught the linuxconf program.
now everything seems to be working fine.
