I'm not sure about the 9, 10, and 11 problem you've had. I believe (and
i'm in windoze not linux now so i'm not sure) but I believe i've got int9
setup to use that card and i'm having no problems. However, i'd agree
completely that the first thing you want to use would be 3, 5 or 7, however
realize that all of those are common interupts:
3 - Usually com2, used for modems
5 - Usually used for soundcards (not sure about it in laptops tho, I'm not
sure if that crystal card uses 5, I know it does if you've got it setup in
the kernel as a SB Pro)
7 - Always used by LPT1, if you ever plan to have a printer setup on that
laptop (connected directly to the LPT port, not a network printer) then
don't use this IP.

Sounds like the numbers on your IRQ list are already taken. Setting up
irq_list is basically a trial and error process. Look at
/proc/interrupts to see which IRQ's are already taken on your machine.
Then setup the irq_list parameter to use IRQ's that are free. From what
I've read, IRQ's 9, 10, (and possibly 11) look free, but if you use
them, they lock up the machine. Example:
% cat /proc/interrupts
0: 58192807 timer
1: 10559 keyboard
2: 0 cascade
8: 1 + rtc
12: 42292 PS/2 Mouse
13: 1 math error
14: 563291 + ide0
15: 0 + ide1
In this case, I would try irq_list=3,5,7

Well Chris's advice got me a lot further than I had been before,
I can now get
PCMCIA services to start. However I also get the following
errors:
From the command line starting PCMCIA services:
cs: could not allocate interrupt for CardBus socket 1
3c575_cb: RequestIO: Out of resource
In /var/log/messages:
Dec 15 11:31:42 localhost cardmgr[375]: socket 1: 3Com 3c575-TX
Fast EtherLink

Dec 15 11:31:42 localhost cardmgr[375]: executing: 'insmod
/lib/modules/2.0.36/pcmcia/cb_enabler.o'
Dec 15 11:31:42 localhost cardmgr[375]: executing: 'insmod
/lib/modules/2.0.36/pcmcia/3c575_cb.o'
Dec 15 11:31:43 localhost cardmgr[375]: get dev info on socket 1
failed:

Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thank you,
Chris Nespor
