Thanks for the input, but what about the DVD problem? I have seen on this
list and on other inspiron pages, that the installation crashes when reading
off the DVD drive. The obvious way to counter this, would be to copy the CD
onto the hard drive, and do an HD install. However, how can I get rid of the
HD partition that I put the files on, AND then allocate it back to RedHat?
If I set my root linux partition to be growable, will it grow to take up the
space freed up by removing the DOS partition with the install files on it?
Or do I have to use some sort of partitioning program? Or is there some as
yet unspoken way to fix the problems with the DVD drive?

Still confused,

You just create a boot floppy as per the instructions on the CD (which is
Windows
readable)
and boot off it, The rest is of the install is paint-by-numbers,
