Jean and Dick:

It is possible to live upgrade from s10u3 to s10u5 with non-global
zones. YOu need to install the list of patches documentated in infodoc
206844.

In addition, you also need the following patches for p7zip and cpio as well:

For Solaris 10 5/08, the compression of the install images is now
unzipped with
the 7zip utility. In order for live upgrade to work with Solaris 10
5/08, the following patches needs to be applied:

Solaris 10 sparc - 137321-01 or later
Solaris 10 x86 - 137322-01 or later
Solaris 9 sparc - 137477-01 or later
Solaris 9 x86 - 137478-01 or later

Live upgrade for Solaris 8 will not be supported. Workaround is to use
regular
upgrade or live upgrade to Solaris 9 or Solaris 10 and then live upgrade
to Solaris 10 5/08.

Cpio patches for live upgrade with zones:

Solaris 10 sparc - 127922-03 or later
Solaris 10 x86 - 127923-03 or later

You can live upgrade with zones from S10, S10u1, u2, u3 and u4.
