Well, I personally never thought this type of peripheral would have played into LiveCD/install boot stability at all, but the culprit was the USB keyboard that I had plugged in. I was using an Apple A1243 (Aluminum Wired USB) keyboard, and I switched that out replacing it with an old Dell PS/2 keyboard, now OSOL 2008.05 is now booting as expected.
Not sure I can say I like the idea of a keyboard causing this type of frustration, but there it is. I've moved on. OSOL is installing, and I'm moving closer to my data. MK This message posted from opensolaris.org
