Hi Gordon, actually, upgrade with ZFS support will be addressed by Snap Upgrade project. For details, please take a look at
http://opensolaris.org/os/project/caiman/Snap_Upgrade/ Since I am not sure, if there is some reasonable way to hack exiting pfinstall engine for this, I am CCing Lori Alt, who is ZFS expert and her team originally delivered initial support for pfinstall being able to install on ZFS root. I am not sure, if any research was done as well as pfinstall upgrade is concerned.
