After my Windows partition got corrupted on my Tecra M2 laptop, I found myself using the Windows Rescue CD to reinstall. As we all know, that means the entire disk was wiped out. I re-installed windows and repartitioned my disk back to dual-boot windows and solaris.
I am now having trouble re-installing Solaris 10. Note that is a re-installation (i.e., same hardware, same physical Solaris CDs, etc.). After successfully booting the Solaris installation program from CD and answering high level questions (i..e, language, network, timezone, passwd, install type, etc.) I receive the error message: "Error: The disk you inserted is not a Solaris OS/DVD" A text error message flashes too fast for me to see and it immediately goes into a Unix prompt. From there, I see that the CD is not mounted and, furthermore, I can not seem to mount it manually. Upon install boot up, I see the message: "Warning: Cannot register interrupt for 'ide' device at IPL 5 because it conflicts with another device using same vector 15 with an IPL of 11. Reconfigure the conflicting device to use different vectors" Don't know if this has anything to do (or may is directly) my problem. Once again, though, I'm reinstalling on the same hardware.
