I've been following this discussion for some time now and it would seem that it is very counter productive to the whole Open Community concept. We at Sun can't invite people from all over the world to contribute to Solaris and then put up road blocks because they don't know the Internal Sun procedures and protocols. Getting into shouting matches over language when its been made clear that English is not the contributors first language should not even be considered. It is our job at Sun to help them.
I'm not an expert at packaging and I don't control this project but I will speak up that this is wrong. Solaris is no longer a closed system and software that is open such as Linux have a choice of open software to pick and choose from. I do know that in Linux you have a choice of package management software, so to me the best thing for Sun is that the user gets a choice of package software (and any other software) so they can use the one they understand and feel comfortable using.
