I had this same problem on a d620 trying to install b50 and just tried again with 55b. Same thing ...
There is a work around I just found. Turn off the on board bge, in bios, before running the installer. Install as usual, then install the broadcom driver package from www.broadcom.com, reboot, turn it back on in bios, and all is well. 55b looks different ... off to play This message posted from opensolaris.org
