Bug 8868 will create the plumbing to allow the package manager to display more detailed descriptions (and actually make "pkg info" do so). It should be part of build 125, though the work still needs to be done to make the gui display the text, and there are still many packages which have little more in their description than they do in their summary, which will likely be corrected slowly over time.
