JeOS a desktop environment? No. Similar to JeOS examples for other
operating systems, the 2009.06 JeOS prototype is CLI and headless server
oriented. Consequently, the windowing system and desktop-oriented tools
are not part of the initial installation.

The JeOS prototype install does not use the ISC minimization.ksh
script. That script takes an existing OS installation and reduces it by
removing packages and services whereas the JeOS prototype effects an
install from scratch using AI and a list of packages (see the manifest
mentioned earlier).

As a post install configuration step prior to creating the various VM
image files, the JeOS install scripts execute the ISC lockdown.tmpl
script to effect some of the CIS recommended hardening features. That's
the only part of ISC that the JeOS prototype installation uses.
