Just as a follow up to this thread, this weekend I installed 2009.06 and 
then ran ISC's minimization.ksh script and then image-update to the 
latest dev build - everything worked as expected.

Also, being the first time installing OpenSolaris, as opposed to SXCE, I 
have to say I'm impressed.  At first I thought LiveCD was hokey. but the 
installation experience was clean.  Also, I found that OpenBSD has 
better I/O than before, though I think this is more to do with the Xen 
upgrade.

All in all, I'm pleased and glad I made the switch.  The only thing that 
will make this better for me is for there to be a headless-install 
option, configuring stati and being able to install a minimized-OS 
directly (no need to run minimization script), but I assume these things 
will come soon now that SXCE no longer
