The MBR boot code installed by OpenSolaris also has the special requirement that the boot disk is bios drive 0x80 / C: or this: I installed OpenSolaris on the second disk. Then I booted into Ubuntu (on the first disk) and added the following to Ubuntu's menu.lst: title OpenSolaris rootnoverify (hd1,0) makeactive chainloader +1 It works great!
