What I did NOT do was install the latest SQLite 3. Tiger comes with
3.1.3 and that seems to do the job. I guess it's possible that
SQLite3 and the Ruby driver for it are out of synch.
On Debian-based Linux distributions, sqlite support isn't part of the base Ruby package. I installed libsqlite3-ruby1.8 and suddenly everything worked.
This probably needs mentioning on the instiki web site...
