I'd add that there is nothing at all stopping these folks from
setting up a mailing list or online group elsewhere and having
at it. Indeed, I think right now the only way this could
possibly progress would be if the author and other advocates
went off on their own for a bit and cleaned it up (a lot) without
the continuing badgeration of IETF mailing lists.
