Your Graphic card is of 128mb but only for xp. In Vista Or Win 7 you have 64mb only,the rest 64mb is allocated for Agp texture acceleration.(I think). And about the 256mb thing u still have 64mb only, the remaining 192mb is shared. This sharing can be increased or decreased via Bios but it depends whether your manufacturer allows you to do it or not. this 64mb or 128mb memory is Dedicated memory or video memory which is only of importance as you can see we are able to run any game whose minimum requirement is 64mb (in vista or 7 as agp is also enabled and of course with the help of modded drivers and registry tweaks) but when it comes to games like Halo 2 or pro street which requires a minimum of 128 mb video ram..we fails....Some games checks total memory and some checks dedicated memory,so it depends on game also.. This is what i think...correct me guys if i'm wrong.
