Well,,, you don't "HAVE" to buy the OS :p The only OS I bought was XP and it was $185 and I sort of regret it...BIG TIME...but oh well I suppose...
Also I can run HGL on highest settings (allowed) except resolution (its set at 800x600) and the game runs maybe around 15-25FPS. On all lowest detail it flys around 20-30 i'd say. This is on Win7, 2GB RAM, 1.6GHz single core Celeron, and the software vertex thing enabled.
