If im not mistaken, the engine for Quake 4 is an updated and heavier engine than the one in Doom 3, they are still the same engine but i think Q4 has a more updated one. Only thing i can say is try it out yourself, if you then see that hey, it works pretty good but i have some small problems, then you can come back here and well do what we can to help you improve your framerate :)
